According to the datasheet, the distortion is always <1%.

I think these THD values only apply to frequencies <= 20 kHz, as shown in the diagram.
Which is quite common for audio devices.

So I guess you really have to test that.
I know these problems for years now, using audio ICs for measurement tasks > 20 kHz.
There's nothing sure unless you test it.
