Hi

VBAT (supplied with coin cell battery) manages the internal SRAM and RTC.. they are used to validated or not the previous dowloaded satellite data.

At the end if in your design you plan to swtich_off VCC/VCC_IO and you want avoid a cold-boot on each repowering the VBAT supply (coin cell battery) is mandatory to guarantee a TTFF of 4s instead of 32s.
