maximum temperature (while not operational) of VL53L0X ToF sensor

Hi everyone,

can you provide information on the highest temperature and ambient pressure the VL53L0X Time of Flight (ToF) ranging sensor can handle without being damaged? Note: this is not during operation of the sensor (operating temperature is given as -20 °C to 70 °C in the datasheet) but during the integration process into a larger system.

Thanks in advance and kind regards

Philip

Hello,

In the datasheet, you can find a section about the reflow process. (section 8.4)
In this section, you will find all the information regarding the integration process in term of temperature.

Regarding the pressure, what are you looking for ?
Regards

The sensor is hollow. And it's not the pressure you should worry about, but the rate of change in pressure. The sensor will compensate, but the opening is small and it won't compensate quickly. That's one of the reasons that in the re-flow temperature profile we don't want you heating and cooling the chip rapidly.

The chip will withstand a 'reasonable pressure', but build to that pressure slowly.

We don't do tests on how much pressure it will handle, so unfortunately there you are kind of on your own.

Hi,

thanks for the tip to look at the reflow section, that is very helpful.

The manufacturing process of the larger system requires curing under a certain air pressure. Therefore I want to know if the sensor will survive being exposed to this pressure.

Hello Philip,

regarding pressure those are tests we are not doing.
