Question

Anyone has ideas for a programmable End Of Line resistors? (CANBUS)

Good Morning everyone, lets brainstorm.

Against my will, i might be designing star topology CANBUS networks.

So i need to figure out how to set in firmware the EOL resistor value.

My ideas:

  • Rele activated EOLs, expensive and bulky.
  • Programmable resistor IC (like AD5246), has anyone tried one of these with > 125Kb/s signals? i used them for audio long ago and they work.
  • To use fault-tolerant canbus and place EOLs of 100ohms, but i dont like the term "fault tolerant", it means my system should tolerate faults?
