BlueNRG aci_gatt_add_char returns ERR_UNSPECIFIED_ERROR

I am creating a series of characteristics using aci_gatt_add_char and after a number of these have been added OK I get an error, ERR_UNSPECIFIED_ERROR

What are the circumstances that cause this ?
