Posted on July 29, 2014 at 16:27Hi,I would like to share some knowledge about a point that puzzled me for 3 days.In Keil µVision (C51), if you write the following:    char *ptr = (char *)0x8000;for accessing data located in some Flash memory for example... You won't get the expected results: the pointer will read elsewhere.Actually the pointer does not hold on 2 bytes as expected, but on 3 (generic pointer), however the explicit cast does not provide you the 3rd byte necessary to access XDATA (for example).Some pointers hold on 1 byte: for accessing IDATA.In such cases, advice is to _always_ specify which address space it is pointing to:    char xdata *ptr = (char xdata *)0x8000;so that the generated assembly code makes use of the appropriate opcodes (DPTR in the case of XDATA). This pointer is really 2-byte long and will allow you to read/write at the right location.Note that any function prototype taking a pointer as argument is concerned with this issue.If the d

Posted on May 15, 2014 at 11:18Hi, We need to modify one of our existing company products to be able to be controller by external I/O. The only externally available I/O-signals are the 6 JTAG pins. These JTAG pins are connected to the PLD I/O-Port C. I would like to control pins PC3 and PC4. But somehow I do not managed to get them active. These next items are applied: - set PC3 and PC4 to GP I/O mode in PSDsoft Express - set the CSIOP to address 0x7F00 in PSDsoft Express (last 256 Bytes of the 32KiB SRAM) - set the PC3/PC4 data direction registers (at address 0x7F14) to '1' (output) - toggle PC3/PC4 output registers (at address 0x7F12) But nothing happens on the outputs. Testing them as inputs also shows no results. Maybe I forgot some setting in the PSD part of the uC? thanks, Henk

I have built the project and got it running but when I plug into the USB port I get �Unknown Device� The board did not have a pull up on the D+ line so I have added one,  the micro has a 4Mhz xtal going to pin 19 (CK) and a 32.768Mhz between 22 (RTCXTO) and 21 (RTCXTI).Any help appreciated.RegardsSimon #nrnd

It is said in the documentation that I should ''Indicate to the PC the location of the stmcdc.inf file (already provided in the Kit)'', but no way, there is only source files in this archive... Posted on March 11, 2014 at 17:12Hello, I have recently had an issue with a PSD854F2 not controlling pin PA0 as a GPIO correctly. During troubleshooting we used PSDSoft Express to pull the image from the device. After programming a fresh image onto the chip, PA0 started operating correctly. A binary comparison of the pulled image and the newly flashed image is the same, which brings me to my question. Is the configuration of the PLD on this device stored into flash? Or is the configuration done during the JTAG programming? It would make sense if it is the latter, as reprogramming the chip fixed the GPIO. Otherwise I have stranger issues in play. Posted on September 19, 2013 at 22:50I need to transmit to about 500 receivers, each one needing ~1.5kbps of data.  So I need ~750kbps of total bandwidth.  Can I use one transmitter per 5 receivers so that I have enough bandwidth (1.5k*5 = 7.5kbps which is less than the 9600bps of a single ST7580)?Each transmitter and set of five receivers would be tuned to their own frequency.  So I would have 100 transmitting devices each at a different frequency, and 500 receivers (one listening to each frequency).  Will the different ST7580s be able to communicate at 100 different frequencies simultaneously on the same line?  If not how many different frequencies could be used without them interfering with each other?  (This would be in the FCC range for a US 110V application.)With 600 devices connected to the line the capacitive loading of all of the frontend filters is going to add up.  Will this cause a problem for communication?  If so how many ST7580s&n

The Vin is designed from 90Vac to 400Vac (phase-neutral or phase-phase)  and the Vout is 16V, 1.3A (max) (about 21W), in QR mode with fmin 150kHz and Fmax 300kHz. If we supply the circuit with 400Vac, after a few hours of work, the Rs burns as well as the resistor in series to the gate of the mosfet and the mosfet goes in short. In some cases the L6566BH explodes. In past we used the L6565 and the same thing happened. If we supply the circuit with 230Vac, all works well without problems. Attached the schematic designed. I am trying to use GPT but due to lack of documentation I cannot use it according to my requirement. The documentation clearly does not reflect proper information.e.g. I am getting the same Timer Period by using different prescaler values. Next, I launched the compiler, created a RIDE project directory for IAP, and placed all the unpackaged source data (.c and .h files) into the IAP project directory.
