calibrating and restarting the X-NUCLEO-LPM01A

Hi

  I am using the X-NUCLEO-LPM01A and is it best to press the calibration button when my own circuit board is not connected, or do I press it after its connected and running?  What exactly is it calibrating against?

The reset target button, does that simply reset the X-NUCLEO-LPM01A or kill and re-apply power my own circuit?
