L9396 VBST overvoltage

Hi team,

I have a question about L9396 VBST and VB voltage.

The normal operation voltage rage of VBST and VB pin is (-0.1V,19V), and the absolute maxmum ratings of VBST and VB pin is  (-0.3V,40V).

So, in case that the voltage is (19V, 40V), what will L9396 behave? If there is any error flag?

Thanks,

Paul

As far as I know, the range between 19V and 40V is merely a safety buffer that the device can withstand without being damaged. However, it is not a regular operating range.

Welcome @PAULZHAO, to the community!

The maximum ratings are not normal conditions, but the parameters beyond which the function is no longer guaranteed and the device may be destroyed. There is no error flag for an overvoltage.

Hope that helps?

Hi Peter,

Thanks for your reply.

I want to know more details about L9396 behavior in case that VBST or VB pin voltage is in  (19V, 40V), which is related to some electrical test, such as Jump Start Test, a mandatory test for a vehicle system.

If there is some Application Note related? Or could you please give me some advice for the situation?

Regards,

Paul
