PowerStep01 step clock mode, maximal acceleration

I have a motor that is capable of of an acceleration of more than 1'000'000 steps/sec^2. However, I cannot this high acceleration because the max. acceleration the internal motion engine of the PowerStep01 allows is 59590 steps/sec^2 (ACC Register, Section 11.1.5 in datasheet). 

 

Could I use the Step Clock mode and provide an external signal to accelerate the motor with more then the 59590 steps/sec^2 or is the motion engine in the step mode also active and caps any frequency change on the STCK input pin to given max acceleration?
