ST-LED6001 24V 2A Complete reference design

Hi Dear

The 90W small projector I designed now requires ST-LED6001 to drive LED, voltage 24V, current 2A. I could not find the complete design of 24V 2A on the official website, all of them are mA level. Do you have the complete reference design of 24V 2A? Can you share it with me?

As the LED6001 is a boost converter, the minimum and maximum input voltage parameters are also important. However, there cannot be a ready-made design for every possible scenario, so you would have to make your own calculations. It may be possible to realise this with a suitable MOSFET that can switch the potentially very high peak currents quickly enough and has a particularly low total gate charge (the pull-up gate driver of the LED6001 has a maximum of 6ohms).

For further or personal support, however, you should open a ticket with the Online Support OLS.

Good luck!
/Peter

Hi Peter

Do you have a suitable MOSFET to recommend

Best regards!

Sure, e.g.:

  • STL40N10F7: 100V, 40A, Rdson 20mohms, QG 19nC, RG 2.25ohms
  • STL50N6F7: 60V, 50A, Rdson 9mohms, QG 17nC, RG t.b.c.

Please make sure that you adjust the source shunt and especially the coil to the peak current; the saturation current (not the operating current) must be significantly higher for the coil.

In addition, the layout must be specially designed for the large peak currents (no vias in the main current paths, connection of coil, MOSFET and Schottky with the lowest possible impedance and concentrated in one spot).

Good luck!
