Do I need an external clock for a BLDC (FOC) driving circuit or is the internal clock precise enough?
The STSPIN Eval Boards I checked do not use an external clock source. They all use the internal HSI Clock as source. If I choose a STSPIN Project in the ST Motor Control Workbench, I can choose between internal and external clock. If I choose a single uC, for instance STM32F031C6, I can only select an external clock source.
An external clock source is better for sure, but is it really necessary for a BLDC solution (FOC)? I would say not really, what's your experiences?
