Dear Team,

I am currently working on a motor control project using the STEVAL-IPMM15B, NUCLEO-G474RE, and X-NUCLEO-IHM09M2 evaluation boards.

After referring to the user manuals, I connected the boards as per my understanding and powered the system with the following supplies:

  • 375 VDC and 20 VDC to the STEVAL-IPMM15B

  • 12 VDC to the VIN pin of the NUCLEO-G474RE

Upon powering the setup, I observed that the NUCLEO-G474RE was drawing approximately 0.9 A, and the onboard LDO temperature rose to around 95°C, as observed using a thermal camera. To prevent any potential damage, I immediately powered off the system and disconnected all the boards.

Subsequently, I tested the NUCLEO-G474RE independently using STM32CubeProgrammer, and the board programs and operates normally when used standalone.

At this stage, I would appreciate your guidance on:

  1. The correct interconnection between STEVAL-IPMM15B, NUCLEO-G474RE, and X-NUCLEO-IHM09M2

  2. The recommended power supply scheme, including appropriate voltage levels and power entry points

  3. Any precautions or configuration steps required before powering the complete system

  4. The initial firmware or example project recommended for safely bringing up the motor

Your support will be very helpful in ensuring a correct and safe setup for my application.

Thank you for your time and assistance. I look forward to your guidance.

Best regards,
Vishal

Hello @Vishal_Dhakshinamurthy,

Did you try using the 5V_STLK setup instead of the power supply input from VIN?

Hello @GMA,

I have tried powering the board using the 5V_STLK supply. Upon doing so, the LD4 LED, which indicates a high current draw condition, turns ON.

Hello @Vishal_Dhakshinamurthy,

Without STEVAL-IPMM15B connected, selecting 5V_STLK with JP5, and USB connected, is the LD4 LED on?
With a standard NUCLEO-G474RE functional board, LD3 should be turned on.
