RS-485 Half-Duplex bi-directional ADDC

I am trying to use RS-485 bidirectional half-duplex with automatic data direction control to communicate with an application generated with MC Workbench. The problem is, the response from the motor control application is too quick to respond before the data direction control can switch from send to receive. So I loose the reply data from the motor control application. Is there a way to delay the response from the motor control application?

Test setup using Nucleo-F303RE and Nucleo-IHM16M1 with serial communication class described in UM1052.
