I have similar problem for a long time. When looked log file in "C:\Users\user\.stm32cubemx" folder, i saw "delete error" log. I'm using Dropbox for my works, and it can ask a question "if i wanted to delete everywhere". So I moved project out of Dropbox folder, then freezing problem gone. Maybe that was actually the source of problem.
