Are the three axes of LIS3MDL orthogonal?

As far as I know, the LIS3MDL is an excellent 3-axis tmr sensor.

What I want to know is whether the magnetic field components of the XYZ axes measured by the LIS3MDL sensor are strictly orthogonal, and do I need to do some calibration before using it?

Thanks?

    Hi @lucky chong ,

the LIS3MDL aces are orthogonal, but the device could be for example mounted tilted, or there could be external stresses affecting the internal axis orthogonality.

For this reason, we always suggest a calibration at application level.

See for example the MotionMC magnetometer calibration library in X-CUBE-MEMS1 expansion for STM32Cube.
