Can I connect my X-NUCLEO-6180XA1 Expansion Board to another Development board different from STM's?

Hi everyone,

I have a CC2640R2 Launchpad whose manufacturer is Texas Instruments. I want to connect my launchpad with the X-NUCLEO-6180XA1 Expansion Board through I2C. Is it possible to do or I must use an STM Board instead? I have been reading the documentation released by ST and it says it provides a portable API. However, I don't know if it's also portable to another MCUs different from ST's.
