Question

I guys, I was looking at the VL53L1X to detec water level in a manhole but it says the field of view is 15°-27°. Being in a manhole, this is way to wide. Any suggestions?

The device I am developping on is on top of the manhole at 3-4 meters high and I need a 2-5 mm precision or so. I look forward for an idea. Looking at basic laser meters to take measurements, they all are capable of doing what I am looking for, but can't find what technology/sensor they use to make it happen... Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks!

The sensor has 16x16 SPADs internally, see data sheet. Its possible to use parts of that downto 4x4. This will narrow the FoV.
