I have downloaded all the needed software and st-link (and update) but Unicleo_GUI does not recognize the expansion board. In my device manager, the virtual COM is there. I am able to connect to the right port, but only if I tick the box that lists all the COM ports. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks

The X-NUCLEO-IKS01A3 is compatible with Nucleo-L552ZE-Q (with STM32 Nucleo boards)
Maybe you have to check solder bridges.
You can check if the available -ready to use- examples with STM32L5 are working.
Make sure to include the IKS01A3 from the BSP folder under X-CUBE-MEMS package:
STM32Cube\Repository\Packs\STMicroelectronics\X-CUBE-MEMS1\8.3.0\Drivers\BSP
and Import the Components folder from X-CUBE-MEMS package: STM32Cube\Repository\Packs\STMicroelectronics\X-CUBE-MEMS1\9.2.0\Drivers\BSP\Components
then, add it in the Components folder of the CubeL5 package:
STM32Cube\Repository\STM32Cube_FW_L5_V1.4.0\Drivers\BSP\Components
