LIS2MDL single shot issues

When running the single shot with offset cancellation mode we will occasionally get the following measurements for the magnetometer:

x = -1

y = 0

z = -1

temp = -1

 

This causes issues for us as we are manually averaging the two single shot values together to get the true temperature compensated magnetic values.

We have seen this on both our PCBAs as well as the STEVAL-MK185 boards connected directly into our system. Mainly we want to know where this message is coming from and how to prevent it. Thank you.
