Question

LIS3DH Lockup

We are experiencing a total lock up of the device during high current flow for motor drive on our board, >5A, below 5A, we do not see a lock up. requires a re-init to get it working again. The the LIS3DH is far away from the current flow and the EEPROM on the same bus does not lock up, and it is closer to the flow of current.

Attached is our schematic and layout, nothing fancy, but this part is not behaving well.

hi Herb, please consider the  STEVAL-MKI105V1 reference for a LIS3DH circuitry ref design:

The databrief suggest the use of 100nF on VddIO and 10uF//100nF on Vdd. especially the bypass capacitors on Vdd should help you... But at which Vdd / VddIO are you operating?

Btw, are you using the axl sensor for some kind of vibration monitoring?
