LIS3MDL interrupt behaviour understanding

Hi!

Reading the documentation of the LIS3MDL I cannot find an answer about the behaviour of the interrupt generator.

When using the device in power down, and setting the threshold values in the registers, does the device keep sampling all the time until the threshold is reached?

Or has it a comparator inside and only wakes up and starts taking samples when the threshold is reached?

What will be the current consumption in that low power mode? Is the 1uA current that is stated in the datasheet?

Thanks in advance!
