STEVAL-STWINKT1 vs STEVAL-STWIN KT1B

We purchased late in 2020 an STEVAL-STWINKT1.

Just learnt that this board has been deprecated and the  STEVAL-STWIN KT1B is instead the recommended reference design

Could you please let us know:

  • if we have to stop using the STEVAL-STWINKT1
  • if get it replaced by the STEVAL-STWINKT1B

    Hi DS @dsamm ,

In general, you can indifferently use the STEVAL-STWINKT1 platform or the STEVAL-STWIN KT1B one, except in the case you want to use the new features, that are summarized as follow:

    • STM32L4+ “U? part number to enable MCD locking mechanism for 3rd party libraries (as in all mcd Nucleo/Disco/EVAL board)
    • STSAFE-A110: soldered directly on the board
    • IMP23ABSU: Ultrasound industrial-grade analog MEMS microphone --> but this is very similar to the MP23ABS1 in most cases
    • BlueNRG-M2SA: (new) BlueNRG-2 BLE module
    • New plastic to satisfy anti inflammability requirements (blue)

At the moment, the only software designed to run exclusively on the new STEVAL-STWIN KT1B is the FP-AI-NANOEDG1, that uses the locking mechanism for 3rd party libraries.

So, if you are using the platform regardless the hardware differences, you can safely use the STEVAL-STWINKT1.
