Storage of ST Micro L3GD20 at -50C (only rated to -40C)

I have an application where this ST Micro part (L3GD20)  has been specified for a product which has a -50C storage requirement. This ST Micro gyro is only rated down to -40C for storage (and operation). Can anyone from ST Micro comments on the potential damage to this part at temperatures below -40C?
