Temperature readings on the LIS2HH12TR

Can anybody suggest why I am getting a fixed 10 C colder offset from the temperature reading for this accelerometer?

Absolute accuracy of the temperature sensor is not guaranteed.

    Offset 10 °C is possible.

The spec sheet says 8 digi/C. So does that mean only 3 of the 11 bits are for temperature so that you can only measure +/- 7 C? I think that the big picture is that the accelerometer's temperature reading is only a relative/difference value, not an absolute value.

Would you expect that one batch to have a fixed offset and another batch have no offset and another batch have yet a different offset. Trying to get a handle on why the variance in our readings and how accurate the data is coming from the accelerometer.

Yes, the temperature sensor is intended for relative measurement.

You would have to calibrate each of your device to get the offset and get absolute temperature value.

It is not guaranteed that the offset will be the same for one batch. most probably it will be different for each piece.
