Question

What is the best way to make the VL53L0X / VL53L1X water resistant? Will they still work when encapsulated in transparent epoxy?

Hi,

I'm asked to design an industrial device to detect objects within about 1 meter. The devices will be placed in a very harsh environment (moister/water) so we want to encapsulate the PCB with sensors in transparent epoxy.

I have looked at this video and wonder about the added value of a coverglasses when encapsulated in epoxy.

My questions are:

1) Are the VL53L0X or VL53L1X water resistant by itself?

2) Will they still work when encapsulated in epoxy?

3) will adding a coverglass (where can we buy them) to the quality of the reading (when in epoxy)?

4) do you have any advice as what we can do best to make the PCB with sensors water-resistant/waterproof?

I mean the VL53L0X and VL53L1X off course!

I dipped my sensor in epoxy and was amazed. It works beautifully
