Why is there no self-test function of the magnetometer in LSM303D?

Hi there,

  According to the datasheet of LSM303D, I could find the self-test function of the accelerometer, but could not find the same function of the magnetometer.

   How to test the magnetometer if no build-in self-test function provided?

Unfortunately self-test feature is not available in LSM303D.

I'm afraid there is not easy way how to test the magnetometer and you will have to rely on production tests. 

To properly test a magnetometer sensor you would need uniform magnetic field which can be generated for example by
