ACST310-8B in light dimming application

Hi,

I wish to use ACST310-8B in light dimming application.

1. As shown in typical diagram of Phase Angle control, in the datasheet of ACST310-8B, can we avoid using choke/inductor in series with load?

I believe this choke/inductor is needed for di/dt protection, EMI protection. Here lighting load is incandescent lamp.

Reference: Figure 17, Page 8 of 14

2. Since this part is mentioned snubber-less, can we avoiding snubber circuit?

Reference: Please refer "The circuit can thus be simplified, with no need for MOV or snubber circuits."

Also please find attached schematic “Phase_Dimmer_Schematic_using_ACST310-8B.png? for your reference

3. Is there any better way to protect ACST310-8B from damages caused due to accidental short circuit/excessive current other than fast blow glass fuse?

Thanks in advance

Regards,

Dinesh
