Attolic TrueStudio installer throws 2 errors

Hi,

I am currently trying to install Atollic TrueStudio v9.3.0 onto Debian Bookworm (fully updated). I can unpack the archive without error or warning. When I run the installer the bash script/system generates the following errors.

 

install.sh: 14: Bad substitution
install.sh: 21: Syntax error: "(" unexpected

 

 I do not understand the first error. WRT the second error, I have had a look at the code on line 21 and it seems to me that all the matching parentheses are present.

Could someone from ST please have a look at this and advise on necessary corrections ?

Yes, I understand that TrueStudio may be in the process of being phased out. The reason I want to use this IDE is that I have found a series of videos on YouTube that will help me "break the ice" in getting a use out of a STM32F407VGT6 based Discovery board and the video presenter chose TrueStudio as the IDE to be used in these tutorials.

It's long past that phase - it has been well & truly phased out for many years now!

Good afternoon Mr Neil,

Thank you for such a very(!) swift reply. The link that you helpfully supplied points to the first in a series of video
tutorials introducing the use of STM32CubeIDE. I have already tried to install the generic Linux v1.17.0 of STM32CubeIDE. For the reason why this was abandoned please see my thread on this forum entitled "Information Center tab not displaying documentation". It was that blockage together with the video presenters choice of IDE that led me to try and install Atollic TrueStudio instead.

I understand (at least some of) the reasons for using a more modern IDE. However, I was really hoping to get TrueStudio "up and running" as it is(!) the IDE of choice for these tutorials. As the installer is throwing only two errors, would it be possible to have these looked at and corrections suggested ?

I'm not on Linux, so can't help with that.

Maybe you could try VSCode?
