I'm a novice and i have in my head an application that require comunication over power line.

I have a question about 7538: Is possible to use it for comunication over 24V AC power lines?

    Hi,

Yes you can use the 7538 modem over a 24Vac power network. However you will need to design your own coupling interface, as the circuit in AN1714 is designed to match the impedance of a 240Vrms mains ring. Your low volatge 24Vac network will have a different input impedance.

You say you're a novice designer, then perhaps this isn't the ideal chip for you, as it a complex product and the design wouldn't be easy.

Additionally the chip is only available in a TQFP44 package the has to be used on an SMD board. This makes the prototype costly, as you have to use a PCB layout.
