ECMF02-4CMX8 operating temperature

Hello,

My system is required to operate at -40C.

The datasheet states that low range ambient temperature is -30C, while the junction temperature is -40C.

Can you please explain the discrepancy between the two? Under what conditions can the junction temperature be lower than the ambient temperature?

Can I use the ECMF02-4CMX8 in my case?

Thank you in advance.

    Hello,

The ECMF02-4CMX8 can be used at -40°C.

Datasheet will be modified with Top between -40°C and +85°C.

    Best regards.

    Fabrice.

If you want to remain within the allowable limits of the datasheet, no this doesn't work. It's a bit odd, but that's what the DS says and we have no reason to distrust it. It's also on rev 4.

    Hi TDK,

It would still be helpful to understand the reason for the -30C limit, since as you mentioned, it is a bit odd.

Does the -40C junction temperature refer to the TVS diodes while the -30C is limited by the common mode filter?

Good morning, my name is Arnaud Fardoit, I'm product marketing engineer in charge of filtering/protectino products for US region. We have been informed that our ECMF02-4CMX8 is going to be phase out very soon and not recommended for new design anymore. We recommend our ECMF2-40A100N6 for datalines, our ESDA17P20-1F2 for VBUS line and ESDZV5H-1BU2 for ID line. My colleague Fabrice has been informed about the change, sorry for the inconvenienced caused. Best Regards, Arnaud
