    Ethernet layer 1 end equipment test(method)

    For validation / qualification of the Ethernet port hardware on one of our intrusion security products I'm searching for dedicated equipment/tools and test method to test this. It should cover 10Mbase/T and 100Mbase/TX link speed (other link speeds are out of scope).

    I currently use a STE101 Phy, in combination with a STR921 micro.

    The goal is to have a clear overview of all layer 1 characteristics and the status compared to the ideal situation. Also layer2/3 info is most welcome.

    Points of interest:

    · AC/DC characteristics

    · Impedances

    · Carrier quality, etc

    Important:

    I'm trying to validate the hardware for a single Ethernet port and not trying to validate an Ethernet network, and so the test equipment/tools/method should be dedicated to this.
