I’ve been testing your TVS simulation tool (https://eds.st.com/tvs/#/), but I’d appreciate some clarification on its methodology. Could you detail:

• The relationship between input parameters and the recommended TVS devices?

• The underlying algorithms or calculations used in the tool?

All calculations performed by TVS simulator are done with parameters available in the TVS datasheet.

To secure TVS selection maximal values are used instead of typical values.

These is no extrapolation only interpolation to secure the TVS selection.

 

All specific calculations are done with set of equations listed in application note AN316 : TVS clamping protection mode.

On top of electrical and thermal usual equations.
