How ser direction of Port 8 and 9 of STR912FW44X6

We are using STR912F44X6 ARM9 microcontroller for eveloping a cab signal monitoring module. This module will get certain discrete input on its 3 port pins i.e. port 4, 8 and 9. And based upon logic, it will trigger a message via etheret on the backplane. Now, my question is, in the reference manual, only information to set port 0 to 7 as input or output is provided. But, its not clear how do I set the direction of port 8 and 9 (I am not using external memory). Can port 8 and 9 be used as both input and output ports. If yes, then can you guide us how do we select and set the dircetion?,
