Is it possible to damage a STBP120 device by attached a low impedance voltage source set to 26V instantly to the input pin?

I have found when tapping a powered bench DC supply at 26V to the input pin of this OVP protection device, I seem to have destroyed the device. I measure 2.5 ohms from the input pin to ground and I measure 140 ohms between the input and output pins.
