Hi,

Iam using ST485ERBDR RS485 chip on my CNC controller card. In the datasheet I see that the Min data rate supported by the chip is 2.5Mbps.

Please can anyone confirm what is the max Data rate it supports.

    Hi,

    from ds :

So 2.5 Mbps is (guaranteed) maximum data rate.

If you need more speed, take faster chip: SN65HVD3088EDR -> 20Mbps .

    Hi,

Yes in the datasheet it is given as Max data rate as 2.5Mbps.

Why Iam confused is because 2.5Mbps is written under Min value as shown below.

    Please can anyone confirm this?

    Hi,

What would you write in a datasheet, of a chip you produce, and want make a statement, what is the highest frequency, that will work reliable?

Minimum, every chip will work 100% or something like might work up to maximum value sometimes?

The minimum here is the guaranteed frequency, it will work. The maximum you can test yourself, it will be different for every chip and temperature, so useless to write in a datasheet.

Maybe it would be more clear for you, if in datasheet they would write: min. / Typ. / Max. 2.5 MHz.
