Slow Read Speed for Virtual COM Port

My STR750 is configured as a USB serial. But the reading speed is slow compared to that of a UART. Are there any ways to speed up the reading speed?

My virutal COM codes is taken from the Virtual COM port example taken from the STR7STR9 USB developer kit software
