Hi! I have made a scheme for CREE X-ML2 LED (with maximum output at 3A) in eDesign studio. But missed that IC loses 0.8w power at 3A and getting very hot quickly, then stepdown output current to ~2A. Is there any way to fix it without total redesign(with different IC) or big additional heatsink on IC?

    Dear sir,

the ST1CC40 is a synchronous step down current source with internal high side and low side switch. The switching frequency is fixed and equal to 850KHz. For these reasons, the power losses of the device are due to the selected application conditions, not to the external components selection.
