    and what are the results? It is good? I want to use ST7538

    in a AMR project.

    Hi,

    I am using this COMPLICATED ST chip...

    I seems to work, but not as good as could be...

    Communicate is possible, easy to make, but RELYABLE communication is a difficult target to hit. I am still on this way...

    Hello Rafael!

    Thank's for your replay!

    I made some tests with the demo board,

    but it is difficult to find the best frequency

    for communication. The best frequency is

    not the same from place to place!

    My conclusion: PLc with FSK (like ST7538) is

    worse in comparation with PLC with spread spectrum

    like Itran.

    The best frequency vary very much!

    You need to take into account that the filters (as suggested by the application note) are susceptible to components value, and this value change from component to component and with temperature also...

    I got two devices comunnicating to each other and discovered (for example) that in one of the ways (say from 1st to 2nd) the communication was best than in the other way (say from 2nd to 1st).

    This is related to the complicated analog part (filter). It need to be very very tunned to work well.

    By the way, I never used any other PLC than ST7538, it´s our first try in this challenge.

    merry Christmas!!!!

    Hi,

    I want to use 24V/ 50Hz power lines for my PLC application with the ST7538. In the application note AN1714 on page 14 it says that C11 needs to be an X2 class capacitor. Since my power lines use 24VAC only I wonder if I can just use an SMD ceramic capacitor with a high enough dc voltage rating.

    and what about your PLC trouble flo123?

    did you have sucesfully?

    I'm working with powerline now, but with Freescale HC08 micros, and a analog modem solution.

    ANALOG modem?

    What kind of transmission?

    Spread spectrum? FSK?

    well, my analog 'modem' is:

    * LM565 for the TX

    * LM566 for the RX

    * some electronic around them, like filters, smith triggers and so.

    It's an FSK modem, with fo in 200Khz (without Cenelec complains)

    But is in design phase now, not 100% working over power line.
