STEVAL-DPSLLCK1 for Charging Lithium Batt

Hello,

 

I want to know if  STEVAL-DPSLLCK1 board can be used for charging 48V, 60A Lithium Batteries. 

Does it has Battery management system.

The STEVAL-DPSLLCK1 is a power supply unit for supplying largely constant loads, which can be used to develop your own power supply units. It is not intended for charging rechargeable batteries, partly because the charging current of rechargeable batteries always decreases at the end of the charging process.

Incidentally, a battery management system must be built into the battery because it has to equalise the charge states of the individual cells.

Please also note that this is an evaluation kit that may only be used for test purposes and in compliance with all safety regulations, including those mentioned in UM2348.

In that case, would like to know if ST has any alternative solution available for building 48V Lithium battery Charger  

Or can this STEVAL-DPSLLCK1 solution can be modified for battery charging applications.

As checked with Customer, they BMS available in their batteries. 

In that case can we use this board by taking the feedback from BMS and control the current. 

 

What we need constant current and constant voltage (CCCV).  Whether this board supports CCCV.

 

Lithium-ion technology charge protocol is always with constant current and constant voltage (CCCV). This means that the voltage and current are constant and the charge commences by constant current where the voltage keeps on rising in the battery until it reaches the top threshold. Once the voltage of the battery matches with that of the charger the voltage stops rising and current begins to drop. Barring the resistance developed in the cells and the interconnects the currents will keep dropping until it reaches zero Amps
