STiD325 discontinued ? dev kit ? Alternatives ?

Hello. I am researching for development of a multi channel digital tv tuner. I have found chips like maxlinear puma 7, broadcom's BCM3390, and STMicroelectronics' STiD325.

It seems this part number is not available when searching for it on the st website. Was it abandoned, or did it fail vs the competition ? I can't find it in any actual producs, but some stock appears to be available here:

https://www.worldwayelec.com/pro/stmicroelectronics/stid325/14062932

So I am guessing this might be a dead end for development, since there's most likely no devkit/software available ?

Broadcom appear to only work with its big partners, so that leaves just Maxlinear as a possibility ?

Are there any other such chips ?

Thanks.

    Welcome @sgmihai, to the community!

Correct, the STiD325 has long been obsolete and has no successor nor a similar device. I am very sorry not to be able to give you more positive information.

Well, would it be possible to get some more details, if not confidential ?

For historical purposes, since this is the only post in the st forums about this chip.

How many were produced, is it really available as old stocks somewhere. Why was the decision made to scrap it, etc.

Well, this was a consumer device that was only worth producing in very large quantities. If the original major customers then manufacture other products, for example, the device can no longer be produced to cover costs.

After a cancellation, all documents relating to this device will be destroyed. You would have to find out for yourself whether any dealers still have goods. However, I fear that you will either get counterfeit devices or devices recycled from old boards from unauthorised dealers.
