    Hello.

We've encountered a problem with new STR71x lower power version 'Z'.

According to producer's information (STR71xF new datasheet, page 70), versions 'A' and 'Z' are functionally identical. In our case, however, 'Z' version behaves differently within the same hardware configuration and with the same software as 'A' version. Most of all, we cannot make proper use of the GPIO2 port (GPIO0 and GPIO1 appear to work OK) - PC0, PC1 and PC2 registers are set, but nothing comes in or out of it.

We also cannot find any signal on the CKOUT pin, no matter how APB2 CKDIS register is set.

The mcu is STR710FZ2T6, LQFP144 package.

Did anybody have similar experience with these?

    Any clues what's wrong?

    Regards,

    Jakub Wczelik

    Hi wczel,

Could you please check on your package the Boot Configuration Register (PCU_BOOTCR bit 9) and tell me if it

is set to 1 or 0?

And tell me what is the marking code of your device exactly.

    Thank you and best regards.

    Hello Hitch,

    You were right!

The PCU_BOOTCR bit 9 is set to '1', so that the mcu works like the chip was mounted on a 64-pin package, while being mounted on a 144-pin package. Thus it makes ''non-bonded'' pins (GPIO2 and CKOUT among the others) unusable! :\

The reference manual states that PCU_BOOTCR bit 9 is read-only. But isn't there ANY way to clear it?

The marking code of the package looks like this:

    '' ST (e3) 'Z'

    R710FZ2T6

    ARM 220BY VG

    MLT 22 548

    02 ''

    Thank You and regards,

    Hello wczel,

unfortunately there is no way to clear this bit.

The only solution is to change your device by another ''date code'' like 0609.

So, please could your ask your ST distributor for a FAR as soon as possible.

    Thank you and best regards,
