VN7003ALH damaged with 20 amp load

Hi,

I am trying to develop a switch that can turn on various loads in motorsports vehicles. I made a prototype using the VN7003ALH. The first thing I tried to switch on was a cooling fan. Which specified a 20 amp load max (obviously on start up it will pull more than that for a split second).

As soon as I switch on the load it seems to latch on and will not turn off.. The datasheet says it can switch over 80 amps, so i'm wondering why they keep blowing? Can anyone help point me in the right direction to make these function reliably..
