st25r3916 - st25r3918 compatibility

Hello,

I wanted some more clarification on the st25r3918 chip, it is very interesting as well as cheap compared to st25r3916 and covers my needs.

are they interchangeable? do they have pin to pin compatibility? the firmware has not yet been released or is it compatible with RFAL for ST25R3916?

    ST25R3916 and ST25R3918 are from software perspective fully compatible. AFAIK also no changes on pin-out are needed if you are not using the features now removed.

    All software which runs on ST25R3916 can also be used for ST25R3918. Please keep in mind the limitations the ST25R3918 has - a good overview can be found on p.7 of st25r3918_product_presentation. When using software to address features not available ST25R3918 you will of course experience that they won't be working.. There are currently no plans of releasing software dedicated to the ST25R3918.
