ST25R3911B or the ST25R3916?

I'm trying to decide between the ST25R3911B or the ST25R3916? I realize the ST25R3916 is newer; but newer does not always equal better. Are there any advantages to developing with the ST25R3911B? Primary purpose is to read 15683 transponders in a sometimes wet environment. Looking for a read range of 10cm

Hi willem buitendyk,

ST25R3916 is really an evolution and an almost complete super set of the ST25R3911B. The main differences of the ST25R3916 are:

  • Improved receiver (correlating including summation mode)
  • Active Wave shaping feature to meet latest standard compliance requirements
  • Card - Emulation and Passive Target support
  • AAT using Vari caps instead of capacitor banks
  • EMD handling in HW (required for standard compliance)

Please see also the slide 4 of ST25R3916_product_presentation-v1.0-Feb2019.pdf which details some more differences.

Regards, Ulysses
