ST25 NFC/RFID tags and readers

I have been using RFAL succesfully with STM32L4. Hello, we have a working design that is in production, but obviously cannot keep building because of the EOL variable capacitors. Our application is reader only, no card emulation. Since we don't need CE, do the variable capacitors need to be populated? Or can they be replaced with a fixed value capacitor? If the latter is correct, then what value capacitor to use? We want to minimize changes to the design since it is working well. In the future we will change to the ST25R300 bur right now we have to stick with the current design. Thanks,Derek

Hi everyone,I’m currently working with the CR95HF and looking into using the provided DLL (CR95HF.dll) for PC-side communication.From the documentation and software packages I understand that a DLL is provided to interface with the CR95HF demonstration board (). I want to add NFC functionality to an existing product. Because the PCB is made of aluminium, I can't use a PCB antenna.On the enclosure of the product, there is a small PCB with 2 pushbuttons and some leds. My idea is to place the PCB antenna on this small PCB.But because of space restrictions, I can't add positions to the existing connector.My idea is to connect the antenna in parallel to the pushbuttons (see attached drawing). The GPIOs of the uP are inputs. I'm aware that the NFC does not work if a pushbutton is being pressed.My questions are: Do you think this can work? Can the ST25DV04 take damage, if an antenna connection is shortet to GND? Can the 1K resistors remain in the circuit or do I need to replace them with 0R resisorts?

Since the 210 reader seems to be cheaper and smaller (in non BGA package) than the 3916b we are currently using, while delivering comparable output power, I am naturally intrigued.  But the wakeup mode figures don't quite impress, even though it is advertised for situations "where each µA matters".Wake-up mode for the ST25R300, ST25R500, ST25R501 and ST25R210 - Application notegives a 75.17 μA figure for 200ms scanning (using 250mA Amplitude)Wake-up mode for ST25R3916/16B, ST25R3917/17B, ST25R3918, ST25R3919B, and ST25R3920/20B devices - Application notegives  a 43.74 µA figure for 200ms scanning (using 200mA Amplitude)Even adjusted for the amplitude difference, that would give >35% more power draw for the 210. Is there a way this is compensated through higher sensitivity, so actually we need less Amplitude on the 210, or should I really expect a regression in low power card detection?

 Hi,  I've implemented the antenna selection circuit as per AN6121 but I'm getting some strange behaviour. Background- I have designed and manfactured a test pcb using the ST25R3916.   On it I have 2 ST25R3916 chips, one with a single antenna connected and the other with 6 antennae and a multiplexer circuit as described in AN6121- Each has a header where I can connect it to my MCU host board so I can use the same software on both to compare- I have the single antenna chip working - it can detect tags correctly.  The chip connected to the multiplexer is not doing so well. I have attached the circuit diagram which i'm pretty sure matches the diagram in AN6121, paying careful attention to which way round the FETs are.  Note I've used the same fets as in the AN.  I'm assuming SW must be low to select the antenna?What i see, which i'm not expecting, is a large voltage drop across R1 in my diagram,  12v incoming drops to 7.6 vo

Based on User manual of Steval-Smartag2, it has an optional battery charger circuit based on STBC15.However the SMD Components for STBC15 battery charger, haven't been attached as seen from the following photo:Here is an Snapshot from the User Manual:   Based on this STBC15QTR, BAT54SFILM, STL4P3LLH6, STL6N3LLH6 and some other components should be added. However I've little problem with attaching these SMD components. STBC15QTR can't be soldered with a standard soldering iron, as the connection pads are entirely underneath the chip. In the other hand using hot bed or reflow oven doesn't make sense, as they would damage other parts of Smartag2 (for example debuging pins)I unfortunatly couldn't find any instructions for attaching theese SMD components. Now I am wondering What is ST:s official suggestion on, how these components should be attached? :)

I am implementing NFC wake-up functionality using the main controller chip STM32L433 and the ST25DV04KC. I2C writes and reads are functioning normally. However, when the NFC field is present, the GPO pin does not output a pulse (reading the GPO register returns a value of 0x11). Using a multimeter to measure the GPO level change when the NFC field appears shows a minimal change in voltage level. The same program works correctly on an STM32F1 development board with an ST25DV04KC NFC module (both 8-pin and 12-pin versions were tested, with the same phenomenon). Does anyone know why this is happening？Could you provide some troubleshooting directions？This would be very helpful to me.Thank you！

HiI would like to know the state of the GPO pin when VCC=0 on the ST25DV64KC-IE8T3. The GPO output is open drain and should be in high independence when VCC=0, but it seems that the MOSFET remains activated. BRGilberto

I am working with the X-NUCLEO-NFC04A1 expansion board (based on the ST25DV04K) and I have some questions regarding the Energy Harvesting (EH) capabilities.My Setup:Hardware: X-NUCLEO-NFC04A1 connected to a host MCU. Observation: When measuring the V_EH pin directly, I see a very low continuous current (in the 0.3µA range), which seems insufficient to drive my target peripheral directly. My goal: I am trying to trigger an external circuit that requires approximately 7 mA for a period of a few ms. I understand that the ST25DV cannot supply this current continuously, but I have seen applications that use a reservoir capacitor to obtain high pulse charges that can be used to trigger the system.My questions:Is the low DC current at V_EH normal? HiWe are developing a product based on the ST25DV-I2C TAG.I noticed that the X-CUBE-NFC4 software module is NRD. Can you suggest any software module that we could use to speed up development?I also tried porting the existing FTM application from ST25NFC_Embedded_Lib_ST25R3911B_1.8.0. I found it very difficult to extract the FTM protocol from this library due to the enormous amount of dependencies. Do you also have a more appropriate FTM sample code to port to our application?BRGilberto
