What will happen to ST/NDefLib library when ARM deletes Mbed repositories?

We are currently using the NDefLib repository hosted on mbed.com (NDefLib | Mbed). As Arm has announced that all Mercurial-hosted repositories on mbed.com will be permanently deleted in July 2026 due to the retirement of the Mbed platform, we would like to seek clarification regarding the future availability of this library.

Could you kindly confirm whether the ST/NDefLib library will be migrated and made available on the ST portal or any other official ST platform after the shutdown of mbed.com? This information will help us plan our migration strategy and ensure we continue to rely on the latest supported version of the library.

The Mbed NFC libraries (including ST/NDefLib) are very old, with the last update in 2021.

Arm already announced back in 2024 that the Mbed program would be retired and that all Mercurial‑hosted repositories on mbed.com will be deleted in July 2026:

ST has no plan to migrate, republish, or maintain the ST/NDefLib or any other Mbed libraries on st.com or other platforms. Customers still using these Mbed libraries should not expect any further updates, nor an alternative hosting from ST once Arm removes the repositories.

As advised in the link above, Mbed users can download a complete backup of their code, ready to be uploaded to a code-hosting service like GitHub or GitLab, which they can maintain on their own.

For a more supported solution going forward, I would suggest them to migrate to our STM32Cube‑based software and related packages for NFC
