Is STM32H7B3I-DK Discovery kit with STM32H7B3LI MCU old?

Hi,

I' was looking at this board thinking it is one of the newer ones. I think of the STM32F7 as the older and STM32H7 as the newer ones.  The reason I'm asking is because I want a STM32H7 kit with an (micro) SD socket and an audio codec. This kit seemed ideal until I checked the audio codec ... Cirrus CS42L51... its datasheet says "discontinued" so I'm thinking this SMT32H7 kit may be old?

I already have a SMT32F746 disco board and it is ok but I run into some annoying bugs (nicely documented here).

Thanks

Hi,

your board is not "old" , but the audio codec is ...not the most recent. :)

see ds:

So codec was new in 2006 , last revision 2020. But thats no problem, my old Sony CD player is 30 y old and still working fine. So the year of design for an audio codec is not a problem, audio hasnt changed the last 35 years.

And the H7B3 cpu ...

4 years ago you could order it first time, do you think , thats "old" ?

IF you want something very "new" , take a H563 board :

From last year, and you get all problems of a new cpu :

my board has a revision Z chip , that has a lot of curious problems, like :

So can start debug 1000 times - then need a new cpu . Thats really new - right ?

Define old.. it still has availability

The Cirrus part is just a convenient CODEC, ST's hardly likely to use parts from the future..

When you build your own board you can select the parts you choose to use.
