Question

Merging different nucleo boards: Bad st-link on Nucleo-f446 but good eval board & and shorted Nucleo-F439 eval board but good st-link. How to use the good st-link with the good f446

I am rather new to Stm32 processors and Nucleo board. I acquired these boards at a flea market so not much lost if I can't get them to work. The F446 st-link expelled all the magic smoke when I plugged it in. The condition of the F446 eval board is yet to be determined.

The Nucleo-F439 board got hot and the over-current LED comes on. I have been able to determine that the short is on the eval board and I am assuming the st-link is good. I can separate the st-link from the eval sections but it is not clear that I can use the a six pin connector as an interface to the F446 eval section. Or is there a completely different setup to be used??

If you break both boards in two, you can connect the six pin header up directly to the PA13 (SWDIO), PA14 (SWCLK), PB3 (SWO), NRST, and GND on the MCU board headers.

Get the User Manual, check the schematics, check the solder bridges.
