New ST-LINK v3 firmware update does not work with older CubeProgrammer, CubeIDE?

I've updated several Nucleo-H743 with the ST-LINK update that comes with CubeIDE 1.7.0 for Windows. This updater allows to choose mode without a USB drive and annoying popup on connection.

The debugger of CubeIDE 1.7.0 works well with this firmware.

However co-workers complain that CubeProgrammer and maybe also CubeIDE 1.6.x fail to recognized the ST-LINK.

The old good ST-LINK utility works with this update just fine.

Could they just update the ST-LINK related EXE/DLL/SYS files to use a consistent pod/drivers?

Sometimes with Adobe FLASH, the winning move is not to play..
