STM32F3348-disco USB connection fails

When connecting a brand new STM32F3348-DISCO board to USB on my MacBook Pro (M1, Ventura), USB communication fails and the ST-Link is not recognised. LD2 flashes brightly red and LD1 flashes hardly visible.

Sometimes the communication works for a very short moment. Updating the ST-Link firmware is not possible since USB communication fails.

Is this a known issue and what can I do?

    Okay, so it's a hummmm... :\

What puzzles me most is, that - as you've said - the demo works with a charge-only cable, yet does not work with charger plus the full cable...

I understand your frustration. Pity the world is not smaller so that we could discuss it personally...

    Hypothesis:

If USB data is corrupted, STLink halts the Disco board. If data is not corrupted (e.g. no data) the STLink starts the Disco board.

No frustration. I work in the industry and know that the world is not perfect ;)

    Thanks for your responses JW.
